International Day for Street Children April 2023

12 April saw a march through the streets of Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria to celebrate this years International Day for Street Children. This is the 10th year now that Safe Child Africa has marked the occasion with our amazing partner - Basic Rights Counsel Initiative - and we are delighted to see how many street children, pastors, activists, students and community members supported us this year.

After the march through the streets of Calabar, the street children were happy and excited to receive a number of gifts and have a dance off competition. As you can see from the photos, much fun was had by all.

This important annual activity allows us to advocate for the rights of such children and work towards a day when there will be no children forced to live on the streets due to malevolent beliefs in witchcraft, child abuse or abandonment. Thanks to all of our supporters for helping bring this day one day closer!
